Fulfill the challenges of a high-needs area in education – literacy and learning.
Candidates in the Reading Teacher Endorsement graduate program at ȺpÎÞÂë learn from experts in the field, studying the demands of the Common Core standards for the most challenged learners. During the program, candidates will learn strategic comprehension instruction and technology for literacy, how to diagnose and address reading problems in all students, and various instructional methods for different age groups. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be prepared for the state of Illinois Reading Teacher test and receive the Reading Teacher Endorsement for grades Pre-K through 12.
Reading Specialist Completion Option
Candidates may complete the requirements for Reading Specialist credentials by taking just five additional courses.
Reading Teacher Endorsement Non-Degree Program
Candidates may take coursework to earn the Reading Teacher Endorsement to add onto their Professional Educator License, without obligation to complete the Master of Education degree. Academic Advisors work with candidates to customize coursework to complete the State of Illinois requirements.
The Reading Teacher Endorsement graduate program is approved by the International Literacy Association (ILA). The program is fully approved by the State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board and the Illinois State Board of Education.
