Construction Delays Expected Near ȺpÎÞÂë Romeoville Campus

Published: October 13, 2024.

ȺpÎÞÂë encourages students to plan ahead and adjust their commutes accordingly.

Drivers traveling to and from the ȺpÎÞÂë campus should be aware of ongoing construction at the intersection of Illinois 53 (Independence Boulevard) and Illinois 7 (Renwick Road) in Romeoville. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) began improvements on September 16 and expects the project to be completed by late 2025.

The construction includes adding a dedicated left-turn lane for southbound Illinois 53, installing new traffic signals, and improving drainage. While at least one lane will remain open in each direction throughout construction, delays are expected.

Those traveling to ȺpÎÞÂë Romeoville Campus are urged to

  • Allow extra travel time for commutes to and from campus.
  • Consider using alternative routes, especially during peak travel times.
  • Be aware of flaggers and signage in the work zone and obey posted speed limits.
  • Pay close attention to your surroundings and watch out for construction workers and equipment.
