Ray, Hickey Named AVCA Division II All-Midwest Region

Bella Ray, Ally Hickey Named 2024 AVCA Division II All-Midwest Region

The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its 2024 AVCA Division II All-Midwest Region Teams as  (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic)½ý²Ô»å  (Granger, Ind./Penn) saw their names on the list.  Ray was named to the first team and Hickey was named honorable mention. 

Ray is making her third straight appearance on the midwest team. The graduate student was also an All-GLVC First Team selection with her court performance while has playing and starting in all 32 matches up until this point and has seen the floor in 120 out of a possible 121 sets for Lewis.

The graduate student has recorded 380 kills so far in 2024 and has a .333 attack percentage. At the net, the Plainfield, Illinois native ranks first in total blocks in the GLVC and NCAA DII with 162 blocks while ranking 12th in the nation with 1.35 blocks/set.  This season, Ray broke the school record for total blocks in a career as she now has 541 and counting. 

In addition to the AVCA selection, Ray was awarded D2CCA Midwest Region First Team Honors. 

Hickey was named AVCA All-Midwest Region selection with her performance so far this season. This marks the first AVCA honor for Hickey in her career. 

The libero has recorded 638 digs (fifth in NCAA DII) until now while recording 5.80 digs/set good (seventh in nation). The Granger, Indiana native was also awarded All-GLVC Second Team after seeing action in 30 contests up until this point.

The Flyers are coming off their fourth straight GLVC Tournament Championship after defeating Rockhurst 3-1 in the finals. Lewis competes in the NCAA DII Tournament this week as the Flyers start Thursday, December 5 and take on No. 5 seed Rockhurst starting at 6 p.m. CT in the first round.
