More Than 1,000 Students Honored at December ȺpÎÞÂë Commencement

ȺpÎÞÂë celebrated December Commencement ceremonies for more than 1,000 students December 13-14 on the university’s campus in Romeoville.  

The celebrations began December 13 in Sancta Alberta Chapel with a Mass of Celebration for all the accomplishments of the graduates as well as their families, friends, and educators. All graduates and their families, faculty and staff were invited to attend, regardless of faith tradition. 

The Afternoon Undergraduate Degree Ceremony honored the College of Business, the College of Education and Social Sciences, the College of Humanities, Fine Arts and Communications and St. Augustine College degree recipients.

The Evening Undergraduate Degree Ceremony recognized College of Aviation, Science and Technology, as well as College of Nursing and Health Sciences degree recipients. During the ceremony, Austin J. Kind, bachelor of science in mathematics and data science, was honored with the Father Aquinas Colgan Award. 

Leonimar T. Mapa, bachelor of science in nursing, offered the Lasallian Address at both undergraduate ceremonies, sharing insights on the University Mission values and their meaning to his education.

December 14, the Morning Graduate Degree Ceremony for the College of Aviation, Science, and Technology and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences honored students receiving certificates of advanced study, master’s and doctoral degrees, as well as graduates of adult accelerated programs.

The Afternoon Graduate Degree Ceremony for the College of Business and College of Education and Social Sciences recognized students receiving doctoral degrees, certificates of advanced study, and master’s degrees, as well as graduates of adult accelerated programs.

Father Dennis H. Holtschneider, CM, received an honorary doctoral degree for his commitment to Catholic Higher Education. For more than 30 years, Holtschneider has faithfully served vital ministries of the Catholic Church, especially through his extensive and influential research, writing, teaching and leadership in Catholic Higher Education. Former president of , he recently served as president of the (ACCU).
