Experiential Learning and Internships
Students can expect to learn and develop hands-on skills to properly assess fitness, prescribe exercise, and motivate clients to achieve their health and wellness goals.
The Exercise Science curriculum provides students with multiple experiential learning opportunities. A few recent activities include:
- ECG Screening with Young Hearts for Life
- Program Design for athletic populations
- Heart and Lung Assessment with College of Nursing and Health Science Simulation lab
- Maximal Cardiopulmonary testing with a variety of populations
- Senior Fitness Testing as part of Exercise for Varied Populations
- 1-on-1 client testing and exercise prescription as part of the Capstone Experience
- First aid and CPR/AED Certification
EXERCISE SCIENCE INTERNSHIP
Exercise Science students complete a self-selected, 250-hour internship related to exercise science during their last semester. During this experience students are expected to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned throughout the program.
