Nomination Information
Nomination Criteria and Guidelines
Each nominee will be evaluated on the following criteria. Nominees should:
- Be a full-time undergraduate student (traditional or accelerated).
- Possess a minimum 3.0 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA).
- Have earned at least 60 credit hours at ȺpÎÞÂë at the time of nomination.
- Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
- Be committed to writing and presenting an address (with appropriate assistance) that will address all those present at the ceremony, including graduates, their families, guests, faculty, and staff.
- Possess and articulate a thorough understanding of the University’s Catholic and Lasallian mission.
- Be involved in activities (either on campus or in the community) that contribute to the Lasallian character of ȺpÎÞÂë.
- Reflect Lasallian principles in his or her personal life, especially recognizing and understanding the values of diversity, social justice, and service to the poor.
- Be in good judicial and academic standing.
Selection Process
Nominated students who fulfill the above criteria will be invited to complete an application form and respond to several brief essay questions. After consideration by the Mission Recognition and Awards Committee of the Mission & Heritage Council, nominees may be asked to participate in an interview.
Note: Only one nomination per student is required for a student to be considered a candidate.
Eligible Students
The names of students who have applied for graduation and who have achieved the required GPA are posted on Blackboard in the “Mission and Heritage Resources” shell. Once in the shell, click on “Projects” among the menu choices and then open the folder called “Lasallian Speaker.”
