The Encounter commemorates the beginning of Saint John Baptist de La Salle’s involvement in the world of education, the discernment of his life’s purpose, and the beginning of the Lasallian story.聽
As you stand before the doorway, you are invited to reflect on De La Salle’s experience, as well as consider your own life journey. What if De La Salle hadn’t walked through that convent door? Would his life have changed so dramatically? He could have remained in relative comfort, relied on his wealth and status, and achieved great standing in the Catholic Church. For De La Salle, walking through that door changed his life and the lives of thousands and thousands of young people and others. Walking through that door changed everything.
